Maternal-Fetal Medicine in Wilmington

Dedicated Care from Saint Francis Healthcare

Pregnancy is a time of great joy and anticipation for many women, but it also can produce complications that can jeopardize the health of both the mother and child. When these complications occur, maternal-fetal medicine physicians (Perinatologists) step in to help monitor the health of both the child and mother and reduce any risk factors the pregnancy may be exposed to.

At Saint Francis Health Care, we are proud to offer vigilant, modern maternal-fetal care through Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. If you have been referred to our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Department or you have questions about our services or an upcoming appointment, call Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals at 215.955.5000 today.

Our Maternal-Fetal Care Services

The Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals Maternal-Fetal Medicine Practice offers comprehensive care for mothers who are either experiencing complications with their pregnancy or those who are exposed to significant risk factors as they navigate their pregnancy. Our goal is to safeguard the health of both the mother and child and help ensure that the pregnancy progresses in the healthiest way possible.

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Maternal-Fetal Medicine Practice offers:

  • Cutting-edge ultrasound technology (including 3-D ultrasounds)
  • Fetal echocardiography
  • Chorionic villus sampling
  • Genetic testing
  • Fetal therapies

Our practice also includes Jefferson's Maternal Addiction Treatment Education and Research (MATER) Program for those expecting (and new) mothers who are struggling with substance abuse. Services include family therapy, parent-child services, and obstetrical care. These are outpatient services offered at several of our facilities, including Our Family Center and My Sister's Place.

Preconception Counseling

Additionally, our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Practice offers preconception counseling for women and families who may have foreseeable complications with conception or a resulting pregnancy. Our counselors can help these patients understand their risk factors and how to reduce the impact they may have on a pregnancy, should they proceed with one.
