Put that Pumpkin Spice Latte Away: Five Ways to Have Some Fall Fitness Fun

It’s hard to stay fit in the Fall with all of those tempting autumn treats such as pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider doughnuts and caramel apples. Saint Francis Healthcare wants to remind you all of ways to stay healthy and have fun in the cooler autumn months, especially as Wednesday, September 26, 2018 represents National Women’s Health and Fitness Day and Saturday, September 29, 2018 marks Family Health and Fitness Day.

You can plan fitness routines with the girls or with the kids on one of these national days. Think of Fall as ringing in the new school year and a new fitness program rather than waiting until January.. Here are five ways to experience Fall while staying fit with the family, according to WebMD:

  1. Experience beautiful Fall foliage while out for a walk, jog or bicycling. If it’s getting darker outside, take a flashlight and wear reflective vests.

  2. Turn an outdoor chore into family bonding time! Yardwork doesn’t always have to be a bore–get the whole family outside to help with raking leaves this fall.

  3. Start a new class at your local fitness club. While you’re at it, ask the kids if they want to start a new gymnastics, ballet or tap class.

  4. Make a date with the kids to do at-home TV workouts. The weather may be too inclement for outside fun.

  5. Try holistic wellness for your spirit as well. Do some yoga or take an art class with the family.
