How to Make Healthy Habits Stick

Committing to a healthy lifestyle is something that is both challenging and rewarding. We know how hard it can be to stick to a good diet and fitness routine. Here are a few tips to help you stay on track with your health and fitness goals.

#1. Write down your goals.

It’s easy to have a broad set of goals for your health and fitness, but do you have a hard time realizing what your specific health and fitness plan should be? Write down the ideal weight you would like to be or the amount of miles you want to run/walk and come up with a plan on how you will achieve them. Writing down the exact goals you want to achieve, along with the steps it takes to reach them, helps make your goals tangible. It allows you to have concrete objectives to strive for.

#2. Start small.

Change is hard. Don't overwhelm yourself by replacing your old routine with a brand new health and fitness routine. Start by introducing healthy behaviors into your life little by little. Your new healthy habits will slowly build themselves up into a routine that you're used to.

#3. Find a teammate!

Recruiting a friend to achieve your health and fitness goals with allows you to hold each other accountable for the goals each of you have set. Together you can cook healthy meals or create fun work out routines. Working on your goals with a friend is a great way to motivate yourself to maintain your healthy habits.

#4. Remove temptations.

Remove things in your life that would tempt you to go against your healthy habits. Just because you pass the cookie dough on your trip to the grocery store doesn't mean you need to buy it. Instead, buy a healthier sweet snack to replace the temptation of the cookie dough.

#5. Celebrate your victories.

Changing your habits can be extremely tough. That's why you need to keep track of your victories and celebrate them! Celebrating your commitment to healthy habits is a great way to continue your success.
