Surgeons at St. Francis Hospital Perform the State's First Robotic Major Thoracic Surgeries
Surgeons at St. Francis Hospital recently performed the State's first robotic major thoracic procedures using the daVinci surgical robot. The robotic lobectomy removed an abscess from the top 1/3 of the patient's lung. The patient was discharged home after three days.

Dr. Adeleke Appointed Chief of the Division of Cardiology
Dr. Kamar Adeleke has been appointed Chief of the Division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine at St. Francis Hospital. Dr. Adeleke succeeds Dr. Ronald Lewis who has served with distinction for the past 11 years.

Nigerian Man, Unable to Receive Care in Nigeria, Travels to St. Francis Hospital
Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Paul Davis, will continue the Mission of St. Francis by providing an aortic valve replacement, a mitral valve repair and possibly a mitral valve replacement on a patient unable to receive this care in his home country.

James J. Tayoun, DO, FACOS, Appointed Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. Francis Hospital
On January 3, 2008, St. Francis Hospital welcomed James J. Tayoun as its Chairman of the Department of Surgery. As Chairman, he will serve as an important liaison between the Hospital and surgeons. He will oversee the continued growth and development of surgical services at St. Francis and will serve on the Hospital Operating Room and Medical Executive Committees.
