Diagnostic Services
St. Francis Hospital physicians are expert diagnosticians, backed by the most up-to-date equipment, and provide fast, accurate diagnoses so that treatment starts sooner.
Unless otherwise noted, all facilities are located within the main St. Francis Hospital building at 701 N. Clayton St., Wilmington, DE 19805, and all phone numbers are in the (302) area code.
Imaging
- X-Ray

- Out-patient examinations are available during these times. No appointment needed, except those studies requiring fasting or bowel preparation.

- MRI

- Our high-field strength (1.5 Tesla) MRI scanner provides high-resolution imaging of the entire body.

- CT Scan

- Our multi-detector CT scanner provides fast, high-resolution imaging of the entire body. The speed of the CT scanner allows the chest or abdomen to be imaged in a single breath hold.

- Ultrasound department fully accredited by the American College of Radiology for general US as well as vascular US. General US studies of neck, abdomen, pelvis, soft tissue abnormalities.

Mammography
- Evaluate bone mineral density of spine and hip to determine presence of osteopenia (diminished bone density) or osteoporosis and the relative risk for fracture as well as monitor response to treatment.

- Nuclear Medicine

- Full gamut of nuclear imaging including bone scans, renal scans, lung (V/Q) scans, GI imaging (esophageal reflux, GI bleeding and gastric emptying), gallbladder scans and white blood cell scans for infections.

Laboratory
- Laboratory Office
- Outpatient laboratory services are provided by our skilled lab staff on the St. Francis Campus at 701 North Clayton Street six days per week.
- Located on the 3rd floor of the Medical Office Building (MOB), the lab is easily accessible from the Clayton garage. No appointment necessary for most tests: routine blood testing, urinalysis and routine urine cultures do not need to be scheduled. All other tests do need to be scheduled through Central Outpatient Registration 302.421.4940. Patients need a written order from the health care provider specifying the procedures they want performed and the associated diagnoses. Please call with any questions.
- You will need to register at Central Outpatient registration which is located next to the outpatient lab on the third floor of the MOB. Please bring your prescription, insurance information and personal identification such as a driver’s license. Pre-registration is available for lab services by calling 302.421.4040
