Highmark has recognized
Saint Francis Healthcare’s commitment to providing quality patient care as part of the Quality
Blue pay-for-performance hospital program. After a second year of participation,
Saint Francis Healthcare received financial incentives for achieving key
performance targets in hospital readmissions, perinatal care, surgical
safety and hospital infection prevention.
“Our focus is to improve the health of the entire community through
cost-effective services. This program is helping our health system to
enhance clinical practices and achieve the best outcomes for patients,
which, in turn, reduces costs for patients and their families,”
says Michael Polnerow, D.O., vice president of Medical Affairs and chief
medical officer for Saint Francis Healthcare.
More than 100 hospitals in Pennsylvania and West Virginia participate in
Highmark’s Quality Blue program. Saint Francis Healthcare is the
only health system in Delaware that participates in this pay-for-value program.
The Quality Blue program was developed as a partnership between Highmark
and hospitals as a way to improve the quality of patient care, while reducing
the cost of care.
Saint Francis Healthcare, a part of Trinity Health, operates Delaware’s only Catholic hospital
serving Wilmington and Northern New Castle County since 1924. Services
provided include Partners in CardioVascular Health and Cardiovascular
Services , 24-hour Emergency Services, Ambulance Service, Bariatric Surgery
Center of Excellence, the da Vinci™ Surgical System, Gastroenterology
Services, Hematology-Oncology Services, Minimally Invasive Surgery Center,
Advanced Wound Center, Imaging Services, Sleep/Neurodiagnostics Center,
Home Care, Outpatient Physical Therapy, Comprehensive Women’s Health
Services and three community outreach programs. Saint Francis Healthcare
is affiliated with the Saint Francis Foundation and Saint Francis LIFE
(Living Independently for Elders), a PACE (Program for All-inclusive Care
for the Elderly) model.
