Volunteer Program

Volunteer Program

Saint Francis Healthcare initiated its Volunteer Program in 1985 for members of our community to provide support services to our patients and Colleagues while fulfilling personal goals. Since then, our volunteers have contributed countless hours in support of Saint Francis Healthcare’s mission of serving together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities.

Our Volunteers

They are sons, daughters, aunts, uncles, moms, dads, grandparents—they are your neighbors. Saint Francis Healthcare volunteers come from various backgrounds with many different interests and talents. They are:

  • College and high-school students seeking potential career paths
  • Working people who want to support their community
  • Parents with just a few hours to spare
  • Retired men and women who want to remain active

Volunteers help out in various offices performing clerical or administrative tasks, or in patient care areas serving in a greeter/hospitality role. Volunteers serve at Saint Francis Hospital, the LIFE (Living Independently for Elders) Center and our community offices.

Getting Involved

Volunteers must be dependable, mature and demonstrate a positive attitude. All Saint Francis Healthcare volunteers are oriented to hospital policies and procedures. The volunteer screening process consists of an interview, drug and TB testing, background checks, completion of reference forms and additional paperwork, and attendance at a volunteer orientation.

The lives of our patients, visitors and staff members have been greatly impacted by the time and talents of our volunteers. The Junior Board Always Welcomes New Members

Since its inception in 1924, the Junior Board of Saint Francis Healthcare has worked to remain true to our mission of serving the hospital and our patients.

Today, the Junior Board touches patients and visitors in many ways.

  • Crafting hats for newborns in the nursery
  • Escorting patients throughout the hospital
  • In the surgical waiting lounge, helping those waiting for patients in surgery
  • Operating the Pollyanna Gift Shop in the main lobby

The Junior Board is a community, supporting one another in times of sorrow or need and rejoicing together in celebration. Gatherings are held monthly—meetings to discuss upcoming events and initiatives and presentations on different health or lifestyle topics.

Please join us. We welcome your involvement! Call 302.764.0292 to learn more.
